Our Purpose
At Glen Huon PS, our shared moral purpose Nurture Excellence and Empower Growth guides everything we do. We believe in setting high expectations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and creating an inclusive, collaborative, and inspiring learning environment where all students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. In support of this, Towards 2030 outlines our strategic direction and focus on school improvement.

By nurturing excellence and empowering growth, we aim to prepare students not only for academic success but also for life beyond school as confident, capable, and compassionate individuals ready to contribute positively to the world.

We are dedicated to excellence in teaching and learning, with an emphasis on:
- Literacy and Numeracy – Evidence-based explicit teaching practices ensure strong foundational skills.
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) – A whole-school approach that nurtures respect, responsibility, and resilience.
- Innovative and Engaging Learning – A focus on real-world problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity.
Our specialist programs in Physical Education, Technologies, Visual Arts, Music, and French enrich student learning. For senior students, we offer an instrumental music program (guitar) providing creative opportunities beyond the classroom.

A Community that Cares
We believe that learning extends beyond the classroom, and strong partnerships with families, staff, and the wider community are at the heart of our school. Our school chaplain, breakfast club, early intervention programs, and partnerships with health specialists ensure students receive the support they need to succeed.
Our commitment to student wellbeing is woven into our everyday practices, fostering a school culture where every child feels safe, valued, and inspired to achieve their best.

Towards 2030 sets our Strategic Direction. Our eight goals for successful learning are the key improvement drivers that all other improvement strategies and targets work towards.
Students are our number one focus and each of the eight goals for successful learning are designed to ensure this focus remains consistent and relevant to the needs of each current and future GHPS student.
